Outcomes: 1. After a short Introduction and Re-Cap, students will be able to define the term design and what complimentary colors are by demonstrating their knowledge through a series of questions that we will ask them at the beginning of the class. 2. After a demonstration, students will be able to create a painted, hand built pottery peice with confidence, shown by a successful paint application and color seen throughout the work. 4. Using the techniques given, students will be able to create a finished piece that combines the techniques learned in today's lesson with the techniques learned prior to the lesson to implement design elements. 5. Using their artwork, students will be able to reflect on their piece and others; by presenting their piece to the class and describing what colors they used to provoke meaning behind their piece and how it enhanced their work. Skills:
Students began with their work from last lesson that was fired. We reminded them about how there are many ways to apply paint to their work to create texture or enhance what they already had done. This student found it important to paint his piece in dark colors so that when he added white and metallic gold, it would stand out. To add texture to his pot, he decides to apply white paint with a sponge to get a different effect than by using the brush. Some students chose to mix the colors together rather than using the colors that were given to them. This allowed for a wider color pallet for them and they had a wider range to paint from. Some of the other techniques the students chose to utilize included using a sponge brush, sticks, and skewers. Since this was our last class with the students, we decided do speed the drying time up by using the blowdryer so they could take their work home. The outcome of all the work turned out great and there were only a couple of students who finished early and decided to free draw what they're gong to do for the summer. I think this was a great last class to have so the students could review the techniques they've previously learned and come home with tangible work they could be proud of.
